Makinde Fever Grips Oluyole as APC, LP Members Cross to PDP

Makinde Can Replicate Oyo’s Success Story for Nigeria, APC, LP Defectors Declare as They Join PDP in Oluyole

In a major political realignment in Oyo State, dozens of members from the All Progressives Congress (APC) and Labour Party (LP) have officially defected to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), declaring their support for Governor Seyi Makinde and his vision for Nigeria.

The defection ceremony, which took place today in Oluyole Local Government, saw the new PDP members pledging their loyalty to the governor and hailing his achievements in governance. The defectors described Governor Makinde as a “transformational leader” whose policies have not only repositioned Oyo State but also provide a blueprint that could be scaled nationally come 2027.

Speaking on behalf of the defectors, Halimot Abdulahi and Mrs. Yemisi Dada cited the governor’s outstanding record in infrastructure renewal, youth empowerment, security, education, healthcare, and economic expansion without overburdening the masses with taxes as key reasons for their move.

PDP Welcomes New Members, Promises Inclusivity

The Executive Chairman of Oluyole Local Government, Asiwaju Akeem Olatunji, warmly welcomed the defectors, assuring them of equal treatment and full integration into the PDP fold.

Makinde’s Rising Profile in the South-West

Also speaking at the event, the PDP Chairman in Oluyole, Alhaji Mukaila Adegbola, described the wave of defections as a reflection of the growing momentum behind Governor Makinde’s leadership. He credited the governor’s people-centric policies and the strong grassroots performance of local leaders like Olatunji for attracting support from opposition parties.

of Adegbola said.

As the 2027 elections approach, today’s defections in Oluyole appear to mark a significant shift in the state’s political dynamics  with many seeing Makinde as a potential national leader who could carry Oyo’s success to the federal level.
