Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, has inaugurated the Mineral Resources and Environmental Management Committee. The committee is headed by Dr. Jimoda, a distinguished academic from LAUTECH.
Governor Ademola Adeleke has reaffirmed his administration's commitment to promoting sustainable and secure mining practices in Osun State. During the inauguration of the state's Mineral Resources and Environmental Management Committee in Osogbo, Senator Adeleke emphasized the importance of responsible mining and environmental sustainability.
The committee, chaired by Professor Lukman Jimoda, comprises nine members. In his address, Governor Adeleke highlighted the committee's key responsibilities, which include ensuring security at mining sites, preventing environmental pollution, and fostering community development agreements between miners and their host communities.
The Governor expressed gratitude to the Minister of Solid Minerals, Dr. Dele Alake, underscoring the importance of collaboration between Osun State and the Federal Government in navigating mining regulations and efficiently processing mining licenses.
Professor Lukuman A. Jimoda, who is also the Special Adviser to the Governor on Mineral Resources, assured that the committee will work diligently to meet the Governor's expectations. He emphasized the committee's dedication to protecting the interests of both the Federal and State governments, as well as the miners and their host communities, with a firm stance against environmental degradation.
Previously a lecturer in Chemical Engineering at LAUTECH, Professor Jimoda noted that the committee's inauguration under Senator Adeleke's leadership marks a significant advancement for the mining sector. He described it as a concerted effort to create a secure, sustainable, and cooperative environment that will bring substantial economic and social benefits to Osun State.
