Justin Timberlake Pleads Not Guilty To z Driving Charge
JUSTIN TIMBERLAKE
The 43-year-old star was stopped on June 18 in Sag Harbor, about 100 miles east of New York City, after police noticed his BMW running a stop sign and swerving within its lane.
The officer who stopped the “Cry Me a River” singer reported that Timberlake was in no condition to drive, noting his bloodshot eyes, the strong smell of alcohol on his breath, slow speech, and unsteady movements. Timberlake also performed poorly on all standardized field sobriety tests, the police report stated.
Timberlake joined the hearing via video link from Antwerp, Belgium, where he is on tour promoting his latest album. Judge Carl Irace ordered the suspension of Timberlake’s New York state driving privileges for the duration of the case. Timberlake’s lawyer, Edward Burke, reiterated that the “SexyBack” singer was not intoxicated and had only consumed one martini before being stopped.
The next court hearing is set for August 9, and Timberlake is not required to attend.
